The father of heavy metal and the founder of “Dio” Ronnie James Dio died on May 16 at the age of 67. His death was a great loss for the music world. A golden chapter closed with the death of this legendary singer. Yesterday his fans gathered to honor the great man. On Sunday he was honored at a public memorial service in Los Angeles. His family and close friends were also present there.
According to reports more than 1,200 fans were inside the Forest Lawn Memorial Park’s Hall of Liberty and a number of fans were standing outside the auditorium. At the memorial service Glenn Hughes of Deep Purple, Paul Shortino of Quiet Riot and Geoff Tate of Queensryche also performed and paid tribute to him.
Ronnie James Dio’s cousin said that he touched the hearts with his music and his music was a magic. He also thanked his entire fans who were gathered there. He said Ronnie James Dio loved you all for all the love and loyalty you showed.
For the ease of the fans TV monitors were also available. These monitors were fixed outside the building so the fans were able to watch the services. It was a tragic moment when Dio’s son Dan Padavona asked everyone to have regular medical checkups in order to avoid the tragedies which they suffered. He also requested not to make such mistake which his father did. American heavy metal vocalist Ronnie James Dio was born on July 10, 1942 and he was one of the most powerful singers in heavy metal.
