Former US vice president Al Gore and his wife, Tipper, are in news but the reason is not good this time. Mr. Al Gore and Tipper spent 40 years as happily married couple but now they have decided to separate. The Gores have not taken the decision instantly and there are reports suggesting they have been considering the matter in recent past. The couple announced the separation in an e-mail that had circulated among the couple’s friends. Mr. Al Gore, 62, served as the vice president from 1993 to 2001 under President Bill Clinton but he was not able to beat the Republican George W. Bush in 2000 presidential election.
In an e-mail the Gores said,
“It was a mutual and mutually supportive decision that we have made together following a process of long and careful consideration. We ask for respect for our privacy and that of our family, and we do not intend to comment further.”
Mr. Al Gore won the “Nobel Peace Prize” in 2007 and he was awarded an Academy Award for Best Documentary in the same year. Mr. Al Gore is world renowned for his efforts to raise awareness about climate change. The Gores have four children together. Mrs. Gore is a photographer and she whole-heartedly supported her husband in his political career.
