IIFA To Bring Close India-Sri Lanka

This year, the IIFA Awards are to take place in Colombo, Sri Lanka between June 3-5 and people from both sides are considering it as a good step for both the countries. Two big names of Sri Lankan Cricket Team Kumar Sangakkara and Sanath Jayasuriya say welcome to IIFA at Colombo and they think it is a big step towards building new relations.

Sri Lankans are big fans for Bollywood and surely Bolywood is a big place for Sri Lankan film stars. The award ceremony will open doors for Sri Lankan film stars as well. Sangakkara is also to play a charity match organized by the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA). The match included Sri Lankan Cricketers and Indian film celebrities. Jayasuriya likes Shah Rukh Khan while Sangakkara’s favorites are Shah Rukh Khan, Amir Khan, Salman Khan, Om Puri and Naseeruddin Shah.

But award ceremony might face some criticism as well. The role of India in Sri Lankan Tamil Province is not at all a hidden secret and both nations criticize each other on this issue. The press in India, heavily criticizes Sri Lankan government and refer it as open violation of human right. One Tamil Film Industry actress, Namitha, refused IIFA invitation just because she did not want to step in a country that tortures innocent people and did not give them their rights.

Another news regarding this award ceremony is that the presence of Big B family is not confirmed at IIFA and besides Big B, similar reports are also being heard about Shah Rukh Khan. Nearly 97% film stars are confirmed to appear IIFA.
