On Tuesday, the 1st of May 2010, the Former Vice President Al Gore announced that he was separating from his wife Tipper after staying in matrimonial relation for forty years. The news was reported by an adviser of the couple. He confirmed the news in a press conference that was held at the office of Al and Tipper Gore. Furthermore he stated that the couple has asked the media to respect their privacy and the solitude of their families. The press spread the information like wild fire.
In a statement that was released by the press, Al Gore, aged 62, and Tipper Gore, aged 61, stated that they have announced the sad news regarding their separation after much thought and discussion. Furthermore the couple suggested that the decision was mutual that was made after a long and careful consideration. After speaking to the press the couple said that they will not make any further comments.
At the Democratic convention in August 2000, the couple made headlines by exchanging a long kiss after Tipper announced the debut of her husband, who was scheduled to accept the nomination for the Democratic president.
Al Gore was the vice chairman for President Bill Clinton from January 1993 to January 2001. In 2000, he was defeated by Republican candidate George W. Bush, whose victory was disputed. In the year 2007, Albert Arnold Gore won the Nobel Peace Prize for his work of promoting fight against global warming. Al Gore and Tipper Gore met in 1965. They got married in May 1970. Now the couple has four grown up children.
